Your LED flood light may be blinking due to several reasons:

Blinking LED flood lights can be annoying at best and concerning at worst. You’d want your flood lights to be ready for an emergency and blinking lights don’t exactly signal “ready”.

The good news is, many of the potential causes for flickering flood lights can be handily repaired with negligible expenses, if at all. Here are the common reasons for faultily blinking flood lights and how to fix them:

Common Causes of Blinking Flood Lights

It’s best to identify the potential causes for your flood lights flickering before attempting to make any fixes. The most common causes are:

It’s a good idea to note any anomalies or changes to your electrical system, as these may be affecting your flood lights’ operations. If you’d have no abrupt changes to your electrical system, then you’ll likely have to inspect the flood light itself to discern the cause.

Here’s more help on troubleshooting blinking flood lights:

8 Effective Solutions to Resolve Blinking Flood Lights

Before attempting to troubleshoot your flood lights, search your specific flood light model online and see if anyone else is having the same issue. Some flood light models may have problems that are unique to that model’s mechanism.

If there are no good results, try the following solutions:

1. Reset the lights

Turn the power to the flood light circuit off at the breaker and leave it off for a few minutes. Then, switch the breaker back on to restore power. Sometimes, resetting the lights in this manner will resolve intermittent blinking issues.

If the flood lights still continue to blink after resetting the breaker, then the problem will require further investigation and repair. But it's worth trying this simple reset first before moving on to more involved troubleshooting steps.

2. Check if the issue is isolated or widespread

Try to determine if the blinking issue is only occurring with one flood light or if multiple flood lights are exhibiting the same problem. This can provide useful clues as to the root cause.

For example, if only one light is blinking, the issue is likely localized to that lighting fixture, wiring, or switch.

However, if all connected flood lights are blinking in unison, it likely points to a more central electrical problem affecting the whole circuit.

3. Check the wiring

Vibrations, weather elements, animals, and normal wear and tear over time can cause wires to wiggle loose from secure connections. They may also become dirty or faulty over time.

Carefully inspect all electrical connections and wires related to the flood light fixture. Make sure wires are securely attached. Also, check for any dirty wires, as accumulated debris can affect their functionality.

If tightening and cleaning your wires don’t resolve the issue, replacing your wires may be worth considering. Be sure to use wires compatible with your flood light model.

4. Make sure the wattage is correct

Ensure that the light bulb or LED module installed in the flood light matches the recommended wattage for the fixture. Using a bulb that is either over or underpowered for the specific fixture can lead to overheating or other issues that cause blinking.

For example, installing a 100W bulb in a fixture rated for 60W can overload the electrical components and wiring, resulting in flickering or intermittent operation as protection mechanisms kick in.

Using the incorrect wattage bulb is an easy mistake to make and simple to fix. Just swap in a bulb rated for the fixture and make sure it stays firmly seated in the electrical contacts.

With the proper wattage bulb installed, the blinking may be resolved.

5. Identify any causes of electrical overloading such as power surges

One common culprit of flickering lights in general is power surges and spikes.

Things like lightning strikes, damage to power lines, and faulty equipment turning on and off can all create momentary power surges. These surges can overload and damage LED driver circuits and other sensitive electronics connected to the lights.

If you think this is the cause of your flood lights’ blinking, you can resolve this in two ways:

6. Test with a multimeter

Testing with a multimeter can help rule out or identify electrical problems that visual inspections might miss.

With a multimeter, check the voltage at the flood light terminals to see if power is stable or fluctuating. Also, check for issues like shorts in wires or bad connections that might have high resistance or intermittent contact.

If you're unfamiliar with using a multimeter for diagnosing electrical issues, it may be best to have an electrician take measurements.

7. Replace the LED driver

The LED driver is the component that converts and regulates power from the electrical system to safely operate the LED lights. Like any electronic device, LED drivers can become defective over time leading to issues like intermittent blinking.

If other tried solutions haven’t fixed the problem, it's a good idea to replace the LED driver of your flood light as they are designed to eventually fail.

Make sure to get an LED driver that is compatible with your specific flood light model. You’ll also need to research how to install it for your specific model. If you aren’t confident with the installation process, you can ask a tech-handy friend or electrician to assist you.

8. Swap the dimmer switch

If the flood light is controlled by a dimmer switch, try replacing it with a basic on/off switch or one specifically designed for use with LED lighting.

Many older dimmer switches or rheostats are not fully compatible with LED technology, which can lead to problems like irregular blinking.

LED dimmers have circuitry designed to work with the sensitive electronics in LED lights. So, swapping the switch for an LED-compatible one can potentially fix blinking issues arising from incompatibility.

(Make sure the new switch is rated for the wattage of your flood light).

A black screen on your Hisense TV that persists even when the TV is on and has sound can be caused by the following hardware and software issues:

Factory resetting your Hisense TV usually fixes an unwanted black screen. Press the reset button with a paperclip for about a minute until the TV turns on again. This should clear any internal glitches causing your TV to display a black screen.

The error is likely also with the TV’s display itself. Turn off the lights in your room and shine a flashlight about two inches away from the TV screen. If you see a faint picture behind the light, your TV’s backlight is faulty and needs repair or replacement.

These solutions only solve the most common causes of a persistent black screen. If you’ve already attempted them, then your TV will need further troubleshooting. Here’s a handy guide to help with that:

Troubleshooting a Hisense TV Black Screen

A black screen even when the TV is on and has sound indicates a problem with the TV’s display components:

These components may not be receiving display data or enough power to activate and operate properly. This leads to a black screen even if you can hear sound, surf channels, and see the TV’s red-light indicator.

Your Hisense TV may thus have issues with its software, power supply, and hardware. These issues all contribute to your Hisense TV’s display malfunctioning by causing errors in the display components’ operation and power:

Don’t start thinking about a costly replacement just yet - Hisense TV black screens can be fixed with several solutions you can try before visiting a repair shop, shopping for a new TV, or activating your Hisense warranty:

Fixes for Hisense TV Black Screen

1. Restart the TV

It’s hard to go wrong with simply restarting your Hisense TV, and it’s best to start with the simplest possible solution first before attempting more involved fixes.

Restart your Hisense TV by unplugging it from its power outlet, waiting for about thirty seconds, and plugging it again. This can flush out any minor internal problems that may be causing your TV to persistently display a black screen.

You’d be surprised how many device issues this simple fix can solve. However, if the tried and tested “just turn the device on and off again” doesn’t work, then you’ll need to try the other fixes here.

2. Factory reset the TV

Like restarting your Hisense TV, factory (or “hard”) resetting it can eliminate any issues caused by software glitches or faulty internal memory, which can sometimes cause persistent black screens.

Here’s how to do a factory reset on your Hisense TV. You will need a thin rod like a paperclip to do this. (Refer to the video above for a demonstration).

1. Turn on your TV.

2. Locate the Reset button on your TV. It’s normally on the back and is a tiny hole.

3. Insert your paperclip or other thin rod inside the hole. You should hear a click.

4. Keep the hole pressed with the rod until your TV restarts.

5. You’ll know the factory reset is successful when your TV turns on.

Note: Factory resetting your TV will erase all user data and downloaded applications/files on your Hisense TV. It will also revert its TV settings to its default configuration before you had modified it.

3. With a flashlight, check if your inverter board is working

The inverter board is responsible for powering the backlight of your Hisense TV's LCD panel. If it's faulty, it can cause the TV's backlight to not turn on, resulting in a black screen.

To check if the inverter board is working, do this simple test. You’ll need a flashlight. (See the video above for a demonstration):

1. Turn off the lights of the room where your Hisense TV is located and turn on your flashlight.

2. Shine the flashlight on your TV screen about 2 to 3 inches away from it.

3. If you see your TV’s picture on the screen, this confirms that your TV’s backlights are broken and will require repair or replacement.

4. If you don’t see the TV’s picture, this can point to more serious issues with the TV’s hardware, or the TV may simply not be receiving power.

Whether you see your TV’s picture or not, it’s best to consult a professional. A TV repairman or a Hisense representative will best advise you on how to proceed with broken backlights, as these don’t necessarily merit replacement.

4. Examine your TV’s electrical plug and outlet

Your Hisense TV may be displaying a black screen because of a faulty electrical connection. This can cause your TV to behave erratically, such as by displaying an unwanted black screen.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot your Hisense TV for electrical issues:

1. Check your Hisense TV’s power cord. Your Hisense TV’s power cord may be worn down or improperly connected. Make sure that the cord is securely inserted and that the wire isn’t torn or twisted.

2. Ensure that your outlet can handle your Hisense TV’s wattage. Most wall outlets can handle the wattage of most Hisense TVs (140w-145w).

However, if your Hisense TV is plugged into a surge protector with many other plugged devices, you may be overloading it. Plug your TV into a different outlet and turn on the TV to see if it continues to display a black screen.

5. If your TV is connected to a device, check the HDMI connection

If your Hisense TV is connected to a gaming console or TV box via an HDMI cable, a persistent black screen is a good sign of an improper connection or a wrongly set input mode.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot the HDMI connection:

1. Make sure the HDMI cable is securely inserted into the HDMI port on both your Hisense TV and the connected device. Wiggle the HDMI plugs on both ends and see how it affects the screen. Try a different HDMI cable if you have one.

2. Access your Hisense TV's input settings and make sure the correct HDMI port for your connected device is selected. An incorrect input mode can result in an unwanted black screen. You can easily correct this through your remote:

a. On your remote, press the Input button until you can see your desired picture. The button should be on the top-right corner of your remote.

b. If your remote has a Source button instead, press this button while pointing the remote to the screen.

A menu allowing you to select your input source should appear. Simply select the HDMI port that your device’s HDMI cable is connected to.

6. Contact Hisense support and seek professional help

If you've tried all the DIY troubleshooting tips above but your Hisense TV still displays a black screen, it's time to seek assistance from Hisense support and TV repair professionals.

Getting assistance from the experts can help pinpoint what's causing your Hisense TV to display a black screen. Their specialized knowledge and troubleshooting techniques can restore your TV to working order again.

Yes, your Snapchat location automatically turns off when your phone dies. Snapchat cannot access your phone’s location without power. However, your last known location will still be displayed on Snap Map for about 8 hours.

If your phone is off for more than 8 hours, your Bitmoji will disappear from your friends’ maps. So, if you want to save battery but keep your Snapchat friends updated on your location, it’s best to turn on your phone once within an 8-hour window.

However, if you want to keep your location hidden, turning off your phone is not an effective way to do it, especially if you plan on hiding your location while staying somewhere for less than 8 hours.

Here are more details on when Snapchat tracks your location and the most effective ways to hide it:

Does Snapchat Location Turn Off When My Phone Dies?

In certain situations, Snapchat is forced to stop tracking your location on Snap Map. One common situation is your phone dying when you manually shut it down or when it runs out of battery.

This is because Snapchat can only update your information by accessing your phone’s location data. While your phone is off, your Internet service is also off, which means your phone can’t transmit its GPS location to apps and services like Snapchat.

Your phone also doesn’t draw any power while turned off. Without power, apps that update your location like Snapchat can’t use any processing memory needed to track your location.

Can My Friends Still See My Snapchat Location While My Phone Is Off?

While your phone is off, Snapchat will continue to show your last known location on Snap Map for about 8 hours.

Your Bitmoji can still be seen on Snap Map, although it won’t appear to be moving on your friends’ maps. Friends directly looking you up can also only see your last known location.

If your phone remains shut down for more than 8 hours, Snapchat will stop showing your last known location.

Your Bitmoji will simply disappear from Snap Map, which means your friends will not be able to see you on their map screen or when trying to search for you on their Snap Map.

Is Turning Off My Phone a Good Way to Hide My Snapchat Location?

Trying to keep your location a secret by temporarily shutting down your phone is not recommended.

Shutting down your phone to hide your location while staying somewhere for less than 8 hours won’t work, because your last known location will still be visible for about 8 hours.

Unless you’re planning to keep your phone shut down for 8 hours, this is an inconvenient way to hide your location. There are other ways to easily and immediately hide your Snapchat location, which we’ll get into below.

When Is Location Turned Off on Snapchat?

Here are other situations when Snapchat stops tracking your location:

* Note: Turning on Ghost Mode only stops updating your Snap Map. Your location can still be seen on any filters, tags, or stickers that rely on your real-time location. Snaps you publicly submit to Snap Map will also reveal your Snap’s location.

As long as your phone is on and Snapchat is allowed to access your phone’s location data (while not on Ghost Mode), your real-time location will be updated on Snap Map, allowing your Snapchat friends to see where you are.

Your location is also updated even when Snapchat is not in use and not open in the background. Closing the app will not stop it from tracking your location and updating it on Snap Map.

What Are Effective Ways to Hide My Snapchat Location?

Hiding your Snapchat location involves either manually restricting Snapchat’s access to your location or using Snapchat’s built-in location hider, Ghost Mode.

Here’s how to do both methods:

1. Turning on Ghost Mode

Ghost Mode hides your location from appearing on the Snap Map. Friends will not be able to see your Bitmoji avatar moving around on their map.

However, Ghost Mode does not stop your location from being attached to tags, filters, stickers, and other features that use your real-time location. For best results, avoid using any feature that relies on your real-time location.

To turn on Ghost Mode:

1. Open Snapchat
2. Go to your Map. This can be accessed by tapping on the map marker symbol, which is the leftmost icon at the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap the gear icon on the top-right corner to access your Location Settings.
4. Ghost Mode will appear on the topmost part of the screen. Tap on the switch next to it.
5. This opens a new window showing you options for Ghost Mode’s duration: 3 hours, 24 hours, or until you turn off Ghost Mode. Tap on your desired duration.
6. When you’ve selected your desired location, the section below Ghost Mode will gray out and its switch will appear green or blue. This means Ghost Mode is now on.

Once you’ve done all the steps above, your Bitmoji on the Map should now have a blue ghost icon on their head. Only you can see this. This means your location is now hidden from Snap Map and your friends can’t see your Bitmoji on their maps.

2. Restricting Snapchat’s Access to Your Location

You can go to your phone's location services settings and deny Snapchat access to your location data. This will prevent Snapchat from updating your location at all. Keep in mind this will affect any location-based filters and features in Snapchat.

To restrict Snapchat's location access on iPhone:

1. Open Settings

2. Go to Privacy & Security

3. Go to Location Services

4. On the list of apps, scroll down and tap on Snapchat.

5. You’ll see these options: Never, Ask Next Time or When I Share, and While Using the App.

a. To hide your location until you return permissions, select Never.

b. To allow Snapchat to use your location only while the app is open, select While Using the App.

c. To pause it only for specific sessions, select Ask Next Time or When I Share. Snapchat will ask for permission every time you open the app.

To restrict Snapchat's location access on Android:

1. Open Settings.

2. Go to Location,

3. Tap on App permissions.

4. Scroll down the list of apps and tap on Snapchat.

5. You’ll see these options: Allow only while using the app, Ask every time, and Don’t allow

a. To hide your location until you return permissions, select Never.

b. To allow Snapchat to use your location only while the app is open, select While Using the App.

c. To pause it only for specific sessions, select Ask Next Time or When I Share. Snapchat will ask for permission every time you open the app.

Yes, WhatsApp is used for dating, mainly for these two reasons:

However, dating on WhatsApp also has some downsides. It’s impossible to stop WhatsApp from displaying the phone number you’ve used to sign up (which is most people’s real phone number), and dating groups are often infiltrated by scammers.

Here’s further detail on the advantages and disadvantages of using WhatsApp for dating:

Is WhatsApp Really Used for Dating?

WhatsApp is frequently used for dating, as it’s the most popular messaging app in many countries. If someone finds a match through a dating app or site, chances are they can readily connect on WhatsApp if they think that they’re a good fit.

The most popular way people use WhatsApp for dating is as a superior chat platform to dating apps and sites. It fills the space between Tinder and Facebook. It’s not too intimate and exposing like Facebook and has more chat features than Tinder.

Dating groups are another way WhatsApp is used for dating. There are hundreds of public dating groups anyone can join to find a match. You can access lists of these groups and their links with a quick Google search.

However, using WhatsApp for dating also has some downsides. One downside is the likelihood of encountering scams, especially when using WhatsApp groups to date. Another is privacy, as WhatsApp makes your real number visible to everyone.

Pros of Using WhatsApp for Dating

1. Convenience

According to data, WhatsApp is one of the fastest-growing and most widely used messaging apps, making it the go-to platform for keeping in touch with a good date for many people.

It’s also free, allowing you to use many of its date-enhancing features without needing to pay for a premium service.

This is not the case for many dating apps and sites, so a lot of people think of moving to WhatsApp or a similar messaging app after meeting a good match rather than paying for their dating platform’s chat service.

2. Chat Features

Having many ways to mingle with someone online helps conversations stay interesting and move at a relationship-building pace. WhatsApp has many features that are useful for both casual and intimate dating conversations:

You can also disable read receipts, online status, and last status tags on WhatsApp, as well as specify which ones to hide these details from.

WhatsApp also lets you block users. These features help maintain distance between you and someone you just met.

3. Discreet (in Public)

WhatsApp provides more discretion than dating apps if you want to chat with someone you just met, but don't want others to know it's a date.

For example, if you exchange numbers with someone, you can chat on WhatsApp later without pulling out a dating app in public that shows your romantic intentions.

WhatsApp also isn’t awkward to show in public like Tinder or Snapchat. It has no attached “stigma” and its interface looks like most other messaging apps. This allows you to chat with your date in public without worrying about getting awkward looks.

4. Works on Multiple Devices

WhatsApp allows you to seamlessly message between your smartphone, tablet, desktop computer, and web browser.

This makes it very convenient for coordinating and chatting with dates, even if you switch devices. You can start a conversation on your phone, and easily continue it from your laptop later.

It also enables voice and video calls from devices other than your phone. So, a WhatsApp video chat with your date could be from your computer screen for better image quality and comfort.

5. Security

Knowing that no one can access and see intimate texts, pictures, and videos you send is important, especially when dating.

To keep your conversations secure, WhatsApp uses end-to-end encryption for messages, voice calls, and video calls.

This provides more privacy than regular SMS or phone calls, as hackers will have a much harder time gaining access to your messages on WhatsApp.

Cons of Using WhatsApp for Dating

1. Scams

WhatsApp dating groups can be magnets for romance scams and catfishing attempts.

While WhatsApp requires a number to register and use its service, scammers still find ways to join these public groups and connect with unsuspecting people looking for dates.

The most common way scammers work is to gain people's trust through sweet talking and building an emotional connection. Then, they will eventually ask for money or gifts, or try to lure people into shady investment opportunities or travel deals.

Some red flags to watch for are people who:

2. Privacy

WhatsApp makes the phone number you used to register visible to everyone you connect with. For many people, that’s the main phone number they use for other accounts.

It’s not possible to hide this, so anyone can use this information to look you up on other social media platforms that display your phone number.

Having your real number out there also makes you susceptible to spam calls and texts from shady third parties. So, WhatsApp provides fewer privacy controls and anonymity compared to keeping chats isolated within a dating app.
