To properly troubleshoot a Ring chime not working right, do the following:

  • Ensure power stability and Wi-fi connection
  • Recheck your initial device setup
  • Consider potential sound errors
  • Reduce sources of wireless disruption in the vicinity.

Addressing these typical issues can help restore your Ring Chime to full functionality and ensure that you never miss another important alert at your door!

Ring Chime Common Issues and Fixes

Power and Connectivity Problems

If your Ring Chime isn’t working, the first thing to check is its power source. Ensure it is plugged into a working power outlet and be mindful of potential damages.

Next, verify your Wi-Fi connection. A weak Wi-Fi signal can cause the Chime to malfunction. Try placing the device closer to your home router. Restarting your router can also help resolve connectivity issues.

Configuration and Setup Errors

Improper setup can also cause issues, which might be so subtle that identifying the specific cause isn’t reasonably viable. In these cases, we’d recommend simply resetting your device.

For second generation Ring chimes, this is done by holding down the reset button for 15-20 seconds. Once that’s completed, use the Ring app to redo initial setup. A guest network may also help you bypass issues related to your main Wi-Fi network.

Ring Chime Sound Errors

Sometimes, your Ring Chime may not produce sound as expected. First, check your volume settings in the Ring app. Make sure the alert tones are not set to mute.

Once that’s done, check to ensure that Do Not Disturb mode on your phone is disabled, as this will affect notifications.

If the issue remains persistent despite the adjustments, it may be a bug. Verify that the firmware is up to date by checking for any updates in the app.

Mitigating Wireless Interference

Wireless interference can disrupt your Ring Chime’s performance. Objects like walls, electronic devices, and metal objects can dampen the Wi-Fi signal. Position the Chime in an open area away from electronic devices to improve signal strength.

Sometimes, changing the channel on your router can minimize interference, though how you’d do so would differ depending on your router.

If you notice consistent issues, consider upgrading to a dual-band router, which offers separate channels for devices and can significantly enhance performance.

Contacting Support and Warranty

If your Ring Chime is not functioning correctly, reaching out to customer support is crucial. Understanding the steps involved is better done sooner instead of later, ensuring a smoother resolution and a lot more time and energy saved.

You can get in touch with Ring’s support team here – we’d strongly recommend using their call feature over chat to ensure a quick discussion. Remember to properly select your region before calling, as mix-ups may lead to miscommunication.

You’ll want to have your Chime’s model number on hand alongside the receipt with printed purchase date, saving everyone time fixing the problem.

Ring products typically come with a one-year limited warranty. If your Chime is within this period and deemed faulty, the support team might guide you through a warranty claim. Proof of purchase is critical to make use of this.
